K & N Carpet has been in the family since 1968. The business originally started in a side building next to the Hockemeyer's family home. In 1973, K & N Carpet moved into a renovated old barn on US 27 South in Fort Wayne, IN and is still at that current location. (For those who can remember, that would be just four miles south of the old Southtown Mall). Todd Hockemeyer, a proud second generation owner of K & N Carpet, grew up in the family business and took ownership in 1996 after installing flooring for 17 years solely for K & N Carpet customers, family, and friends. In 2000, K & N Carpet joined a partnership with Mohawk and became the first Mohawk Floorscapes Dealer in the Fort Wayne area. We are also proud to announce that in 2003 K & N Carpet was recognized as the Ohio region Floorscapes Dealer of the year!
Not only is K & N Carpet locally owned and family operated, we are also a member of the Better Business Bureau and Home Building Association. We are very family oriented, involved in the local community, schools and churches. We have sponsored a variety of organizations and have even provided the "red carpet" that was rolled out at the beginning of each Wizards game, now known as the Tin Caps.
